Abstract: Cold roll forming is a new roll forming process, and it has the advantages of no heat or pressure-based deformation, no tool wear, a high forming rate, and a short construction period. This paper will analyze the cold roll forming of an uneven section of stainless steel SUS301L-ST, establish a three-dimensional finite element model by using the professional roll forming software COPRA, and deduce the optimal parameters for the cold roll forming of the uneven section of stainless steel SUS301L-ST.
With the use of the finite element method (FEM) in ABAQUS, the roll forming line is divided into four elements along the length of the line. The first element includes the guide rolls, the second element includes the forming rolls and the shaping rolls, the third element includes the guide rolls and the shaping rolls, and the fourth element includes the guide rolls and the shaping rolls. The finite element method (FEM) is used to simulate the roll forming line. The stretching force, the rolling force, and the friction are considered in the model, and the dimensions of the elements change dynamically in response to the simulation.
By using the finite element analysis (FEA) method, we can deduce the optimal dimensions of the rolls, the roll gap, the roll angle, the roll position, the load in the roll gap, and other parameters.
